Dining Room Interior Design – A Complex Yet Beautiful Design

| Abby |

There are several style approach in dining room interior design. A simple, contemporary dining area is popular among home owners. While others want something unique and cozy and  go for a transitional or eclectic style. One of our clients who has a big personality and plenty of energy, has a home filled with great architectural details – coved ceilings with arched windows and entryway.

My client’s requirement was to achieve a bold, colorful and whimsical dining area. I searched for bold, bright wall covering as my design process starting point. The moment she saw what I picked, she instantly fell in love.

Since the chosen wallpaper is compelling, I decided to use stripes as the upholstery fabric in repurposing their old chairs. The stripes are a way to balance the amount of detail in the wallpaper. This way, your eyes will not be drawn to the wallpaper alone but will also be drawn to the chairs’ pattern as well. I chose the color orange for the chair legs to bring interest in the neutral color of the chair.

Everything about this dining room interior design is unique from the accessories and carved molding inside the room to the dramatic colors of the wallpaper and chairs.  The colors are replicated through decor accents in teals and oranges. The blue lamp pulls another color from the wallpaper as well as the orange vases and tray. The coved ceiling is a burnished silver which is separated from the walls with a black carved molding. A muted grey carpet is used to enhance the overall feel of the room. Fresh flowers add a breath of fresh air to the design.

The dining room interior design is indeed beautiful, complex and energetic space. From busy wallpaper patterns, striped upholstered chairs and bold choice of colors for accessories, the dining area is full of life and unique characteristics just like my client.

All furniture, lighting and decor accents came from my furniture showroom, Architexture. Custom pieces were designed by yours truly.
