As an ordinary homeowner seeking a design style that suits your taste, here’s how we classify and differentiate traditional design from transitional.

My new client came to me to produce a total living room design on a budget in time for a party she was giving in 3 weeks time. She brought me a floor plan of the room. At first, she was convinced she wanted a sectional sofa, but together we decided a sofa was a better option. She had ordered a sofa and chair from a large discount store. However, when it arrived she realized it was too large. It was also of such inferior quality that she refused to accept it and demanded a refund.

The popularity of green living and eco-friendly home designs continues to rise. We have not only become better stewards of mother nature, we also appreciate the innate beauty of natural elements. Therefore, we want to incorporate this into our overall home design.

An Interior Designer can add a pop of color that invigorates the room. Interior designers can bring a new element or point of view to a room that the owners have not considered and it can make all the difference! In this case, the designer added a sapphire blue sofa as the central piece. Standing as a bright, attention grabbing pop of color against neutral backgrounds, it directs the eye to all other important elements. The sofa, a handsome and strong piece of furniture, focuses this lovely room and encourages you to enjoy the natural outside space. It is reminiscent of seeing a rare blue bird in the trees.

A living room has many functions. It can be used to accommodate and entertain guests, as a place to relax, sip a warm and soothing cup of tea or do completely nothing but hangout. If you don’t have a separate space for the family room, the living room can be used for watching television and spending time with the family.
